I need a little help from the Stihl experts. This is a 066 red light magnum flat top (non decomp) rebuild project saw I am currently working on and I am pretty sure that it came with the wrong air filter cover. Does anyone know what the correct part number I should be looking for is and a source to get on besides watching ebay?

What you have there is actually the correct air filter cover for a flat-top 066. There will always be a little gap on the sides
and top between the cover and the filter base. The air has to enter the saw somewhere.

Here's an old 066 Red Light. Add you can see, the cover should be flush with the front of the tank.

I too need an air filter cover, seeing as how my red light came without one. The correct part number would be great. A close up picture showing what the correct filter cover looks like would even work.

If I don't forget I will look at mine tomorrow and get a number. You may have to PM me and remind me

I looked out in my parts stash and found a redlight air filter cover. This one is faded and still has the "digital" sticker on it. Ten bucks plus shipping and it's yours. Part number is 1122 141 0500

I also have one of the old 066/064 Non HD filter covers too if anyone needs one

You can run without the cover if you're not cutting in the rain. It seems to stay just as clean. Just make sure there's not a gap around the nut to hold the filter down.

Here is my So called "Red Light" as the cylinder, air box, & cover are Red light but the crankcase is a 066 poly flywheel.

The air filter cover fits pretty much the same as in the original post . . .

If RNR doesn't take this cover, I will. It is in better condition than the one on my saw.

Go ahead and buy it black oak, I already had the local mechanic order a new cover before I even posted my question. Now I gotta wait and see if he ordered the right one. I'm guessing not. Damn my lack of patience

So what's the story on the cylinder cover? Does the red light accept later model covers, or do I have to buy one that was made for the red light? Seems like I had read somewhere that I'd have to change out other parts to make a newer cover work. Mines in working condition, just kinda beat up. My cylinder has a spot for a decomp button, and it would kinda be nice to have one, but not a major issue.
