I stumbled across a few interesting videos of some big saws and after seeing so many threads where people are asking about different saws as well as a post from Bob about a MS880 over on the chainsaw forum I thought I would post a link to them. The first is of an 084 (121cc):

The next is the same guy cutting the same log with an 076 (111cc):

this is labled as a pre 090 lightning contra S. Not sure if it is a 106cc contra or a 137cc contra S. judging from the cut speed compared to the other two videos I am going to guess it is the 106cc 070.

If you watch the clock from when the chain hits the log from when the cookie is cut loose and do the math the 084 and 076 are only a couple of seconds different. The one bit of info that makes the videos a bit of a grab bag is what chain each saw is running as well as what rim sprocket each saw is driving the chain with.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a touch too much blue smoke coming from those machines.

Another thing, is it just the usual poor quality Uboob sound or do both those machines sound a bit ragged? I know they are not new machines but I would have expected a more regular crisper sound ?

I just edited othe link for the 076 so it now links to the video of the 076 rather than a duplicate of the 084.

I thought the same thing about the blue smoke. Without knowing what brand of oil is in his mix or his mix ratios it is impossible to say if the saws are blowing oil or buring it. I just thought the videos held a bit of valid info since they are of the same guy cutting the same log with different saws.

The sound on the 076 is close enough to what mine sounds like that I can tell how the camera is distorting the sound a bit but I don't have any experiance with the other two saws. I do have a friend that runs an 090 and it does sound different from an 075 but dosen't sound as mean and brutish as I thought it should. Actually my 051's have a meaner sound.

The 084 looks like it was burning to rich , probably a higher oil mix, mabe with a little rich on the carb setting or the air filter may be getting clogged. I would correct it before using it any length of time.
I have a fondness for the sound of the 076. Looked and sounded the closest to being well tuned of the 3.
The 090 needs some time spent on it. Running way to rich and it looked the chain wasn't cutting very well.
