Nope....just pull the choke like you would on any other saw without a primer bulb.

Yes, and the 346 has a choke, along with the primer bulb.

Both are not needed, but it has em. My new 346 is easier to start with the primer than my older one, but I'd rather not have it.

The primer just purge's air so you don't have to suck it through. it doesn't "Stick out" on the 346 it's kinda recessed. I find the 346 a Fantastic little saw, I have never used such a quick saw.
