Collector helping me on this search. He said it dont show up in IPL's to 87 for both on 266.

But he has a 83 266 with square case and my 83 I just sold was round case. Both in pics.

Only one I have seen with round tensioner on round case so far has been that 81 one I had.

Same collector said he has 84 with square case too.

266XP all the way. The torque it brings to the table just feels more practical in real cutting scenarios. Numbers aside, it's about getting the job done efficiently.

For those who have a fair bit of time running both, which do you prefer? On paper the 268 has like two or three tenths more horsepower but seems like the 266 has maybe a little more torque? I was running a 268XP top end on one of my 266’s but swapped back to the stock (266) top end because I almost couldn’t tell the difference between the two. Ran the same HS224 carb and 266XP muffler on both.
