I have a 272xp that reads 130psi. It runs pretty good, but I know compression should be higher,so a new piston/rings might be in order.I will likely go thinner on the base gasket too. To 272XP owners-how much compression are you getting from your saws? Is the 140-160 range pretty standard for a stock 272XP? How much should you expect the psi to go up AFTER a normal break in of new piston/rings? 10-20 PSI? Thanks

140-145 on mine.

130 cold mines not an xp

It runs fine this way? What bar are you running? Seems the 272 does not need too much compression. I think your 272 is the same as the XP. They just did not put the lablel on it in some early ones. From what I've read, there was never a non-xp 272 in the US.(despite what the label says).
