IMG_20150517_112459.jpg Good mornin every one. I have a couple of new projects. I have 2 372 xps.1 says its a xtorq...what is the differents between these 2 saws. One has a compressions release on top of the head and the othere has it in the side of the head...will the the xtorq interchang IMG_20150517_170756.jpg with the 372. One of the pistons is bad with one of the 372 XP...can I put a big bore kit on ether 1 of the 372 XP ...is there a pretty good power gain...is it worth the money to put a big bore kit in...can I rebuild just the top end or do I have to rebuild bottom end too when installin a big bore kit. Last is the 372 xpw...its blown....what parts will interchangeIMG_20150518_182958.jpg with this saw. The rear handle bar is broken...so can I take the rear handle bar off the 372xp and put it on the 372xpw...thank you friends...have a good day...IMG_20150518_185625.jpg IMG_20150519_033024.JPG IMG_20150517_112459.jpg IMG_20150517_170756.jpg IMG_20150518_182958.jpg IMG_20150518_185625.jpg IMG_20150519_033024.JPG IMG_20150517_112459.jpg IMG_20150517_170756.jpg IMG_20150518_182958.jpg IMG_20150518_185625.jpg IMG_20150519_033024.JPG

The picture with the cracked motor mount...would it be Ok to try and patch that or should I buy another fuel tank...I thought I mite try to patch it with jb weld...any thoughts...thank you...

Thanks fur the reply Jon 1212...I bought them out of a yard sale. There is one good runner in there already....but I am trying to get other to running as well...can you answers any of the question I post...thank you Jon....

Just my opinion. Focus on building towards a non XT saw (they'll have the CR on the side). I would avoid BigBore kits. Hopefully your stock jug will clean up. Most of the parts you have should interchange, as long as you don't try to mix up XT/ non-XT pistons and jugs. It appears that you may have enough good parts to build one good saw, maybe two.

Nothing really against XT saws, I just like the slightly less complex non- XT saws, personally.

Regarding the XPW, there were 3 basic versions of them in the US - 71cc (up to 2006 or so), 75cc (about 2006 - 2009) and 71cc strato/xtorq (from 2009 or so).

The 75cc topend was from the 375 cutoff saw, and had much inferior porting compared to the original 71cc one. That can be corrected by someone that knows what he is doing though - but properly porting it is much more work than on the original 71cc one..

Thank you fur your input...I check all 3 saws...I don't see any cr on the jugs...the first saw is a 372xp it says on the I.D. tag...it also has a plate on each side of the jug. What is that fur...it is the one with the bad pistion and the one I want to rebuild first. It also has a compression release in the top of the jug.IMG_20150522_111712.jpgIMG_20150522_111726.jpgIMG_20150522_111750.jpgthe second is a 372xp as well...it runs but it has a leak right in the front of the oil case...the compression release is in the side of the jug and it has no plates on the jug...the third saw is the 372xpw...it needs a pisition as well...the jug looks about the same as the second 372xp...also on the 372xpw it only has two lines goin to the carb...I have and been usin a 372xpw fur a few years now and it has 3 lines runnin to the carb...I really enjoy this saw...that's why I picked up this other 372xpw

Thank you fur your input sawtroll...

You have a 2011 saw there, a 2008 one, and a 2002. That means 2002 one is regular 71cc, the 2011 likely strato/xtorq, and the 2008 one likely is 75cc if xpw and originally sold in the US - regular 71cc if not xpw, or originally sold outside the US.

There may have been different transision dates between the regular 71cc and the xtorq between different markets, that is not reflected in the IPLs. I have based this on what the IPLs tell me. It also is about the original top ends of the saws, but you never know what has been changed on a used saw.

I will not be shocked if production of the regular 71cc version is started at Huskys factory in Brazil at some point, for third world markets - it may already have happened, for all I know...

I used 'CR' as an abbreviation for 'compression release'. Sorry for any confusion.

The compression release is on the side of a n0n- XTorq cylinder, and on the top of an XTorq jug.

Thank you fur your input sawtroll...so on the 08 372xpw (it says its an 372xpw on the I.d. tag ) 75 cc...this is the one you was sayin that they used the jug off the cut off saw that had the bad portin...is there any way to use another jug so it has the correct portin....the 2011 272xp x-torq...are they a plain in the ass...can I convert the x-torq to a regular 372xp or install a big bore kit on it...how did you know the years of the 3 saws sawtroll...thank you...

Yes, and the xtorq saws also are a bit heavier. They have a 19mm+ carb though (vs. 17.5 - a large difference in capasity), that can be very useful for upgrading the other versions (and some other saws). It takes a bit more than just swapping the carb though.

Thank you fur your input...OK so the one is a 372xp x-torq... This is the one I am building first...is this a pretty good saw...how come you don't prever the big bore kit and could I put it on this saw...thank you...

Thank you fur the input sawtroll....lol...I am a bit confused...you said yes to convert the 372xpw...right??? What do I use to convert it do it has better portin??? On the 372xp x-torq...I am not entirely sure what you are tryin to say...I am sorry...I am a bit new at these bigger saws and x-torq and so on...I want to learn tho...

I don't remember saying anything about converting the xpw to anything (but I would have got a regular handlebar for it, if it was mine, to replace the wrap one).
One thing I know, is that the 75cc top end is in bad need of widening the transfer ports by a lot, but I would leave it to an expert (my brother is one, but that doesn't help anyone else). It does cost a few hundred dollars though, as part of a full porting job. There are several people on this forum that does such work, and I know that Mastermind is very aware of the issue (has posted about it).

I don't really understand fully what you ask about though, so the above is just "a shot in the dark".

There is no problem with putting a regular 71cc top end on that saw - but I don't really think you gain anything by doing so. More cc but lesser porting about evens out, with maybe a low end torque advantage to the 75cc, but maybe a little bit more above max hp rpm and better trigger response with the 71cc. You need to try, to really compare - I don't have any personal experiense with anything but a regular 71cc xpg.
There are no problems I know of with the xtorq top ends, and it is the version that has the highest max power specs. You will have to change the intake from the carb as well as the top end, at least to get rid of the strato dividers in the intake - but I don't really know the details, except that it is doable. I'm not sure what intake to use from the larger carb, but have a feeling it is the 385/390 one.
Mastermind will know the details, as he used to put the 75cc top end (ported I assume) on new XT saws for a while, and sell them.

Thank you fur your input sawtroll...yah that is what I was wanting to know...if on the 372xpw if I could put a 71 cc jug and pistion on it or go back to the stock 75 cc. I would like to make this a good saw again...when I buy a new jug and pistion...I think I will use the 71cc...how would I order that tho...ask fur 71 cc pistion and jug fur a 372xpw???

On the x-torq...I was just wonderin if it could be converted to a regular 372xp...lol...thank you sawtroll fur all the help...sorry fur the confusion....
