Know you guys enjoy pictures so here you go. Dropped about a 26" dead oak tree and a smaller american elm with dutch elm disease. Had a friend of mine help me who does tree work professionally. The oak tree was leaning back into the woods and had to be dropped so it did not smash another tree or my wood piles. He roped and blocked it and it fell exactly where we wanted it. What was really nice is he took the time to tell me how/why he was doing on each step. So it took a long time, but we well worth it to me.

If anyone wants to play the "guess how many cords" this makes, I already know the answer and can post it in a day or two.

Good on you for getting help! The trees went down safely & where you wanted them. You also learned in the process.
Nothing like dropping the trees right next to the woodpile!

Good job!

I like your lil wagon too. How much will it carry? if it will tote full of wood, it would be great. I keep finding ones I think will work, but the weight ratings is always less than what it could carry full. I want to pull behind my quad to haul out cut wood from tight areas.

Nice work. I'll say 2.5 cords.

Pretty close, I calculated 2.81 cords. 27 ft long, 16 inch logs, 2 rows, 5 ft high.

(27 x 2 x 1.33 x 5 ) / 128 = 2.81 cords

Actually probably closer to 3 cords because I stacked onto other rows because I did not want to start another row.

I have filled it completely full of oak. I think the wagon is rated at 800lbs. It does get a little top heavy and a little wobbly when complete full with the sides I built for it (made out of the pallet it came on), so I dont do that often. The tractor pulls all the weight fine though. It is a 1969 IH 104. The teaser spring on it is broke and will catch the clutch engaged sometimes, which can be annoying. But pulling the engine to change one little spring is equally as annoying, so I have not done it yet.

That's almost cheating, dropping a tree that close to the pile! :)

:agree2: Almost as bad as me driving around the neighborhood after a big wind storm to pick up cut logs at the end of driveways. Nice stack of wood ya got:clap:

I use a north trails BX SERIES trailer. I use it to haul my atv and its only a couple inches wider than the atv. Its rated for 1200lbs and I find thats when the leaf springs start to move. It's got decent ground clearence to. I find its one of my better purchases!.
