i have alot of this black build up in stove, checked the clean out in the pipe
selkirk insulated stainless pipe and no build up. is this normal for this to happen, burning mainly standing dead pine and 1 year old cut and split birch.
occasionally throw in the odd green maple, and sometimes green willow. is this dangerous in the stove???

Is it dry powdery black stuff?

Might be you have your woodburner damped down too much.

If the wood is seasoned, usually it'll clink when you knock the pieces together, then it shouldn't be the wood.

The type of wood doesn't matter, as long as its dry.

As far as I know it is called soot, it comes from burning wood. Take a small brush and sweep it down to the bottom of the stove if it bothers you, try not to get it on your clothes.
