I like bradford pear

I think you will be happy with bradford pear. You don't go looking for it because of all the limbs you have to mess with and the trees aren't very big. And, even though it splits okay it doesn't have much grain so it tends not to split straight. But it is a heavy, dense wood that produces a lot of coals, heat and long burn time. Definitely, worth having.
