Buried tip yet no kickback. How?

I've had to bury my bar tip into logs wider than my bar is long, yet didn't experience kickback. How does that work?
See this guy at 2:12 for example. He's clearly cutting with the tip but the saw doesn't jump up.

The cutter at the very end of the tip is still making contact with the wood, though. That should cause the bar to kick straight up.
Or am I missing something?

The whole bar is engaged. Kickback happens when you just contact the upper tip.

You can cut using the tip of the bar no worries at all? You just need to know what your doing and have experience.
I frequently cut with the nose of the bar various reasons and bore Cut timber, it is all dependent on a skilled and aware operator of the out come.

Being aware of where the tip of the bar is and the possible consequences puts you in a good position for safe cutting

As stated before, it's when you cut with the top half of the nose of the bar. Kick back can still happen anywhere on the bar, but the top of the nose is where it occurs most frequent. If your bars kicking a lot not from the tip, your depth gauges are to low.
