The boys were a bit crowded in there room so we decided to build
them a set of loft style beds out of California black oak,
giving them more floor space to be boys.

They have helped from start to finish on this project and have had hands on
at each step of the project, from pulling the wood out of the stack,

to trimming and planing the boards, cutting to length, routering the edges,
sanding with all three grits, test fitting, and applying three coats of poly urethane.

While we are at it we decided to repaint there room as well.
Now they are waiting for the paint to dry so the first bed can be assembled.

That's great getting them involved. It's a good learning experience for them and they will appriciate the bed after it's done as well.Looks nice.:) Mark

I too like that you're involving the boys in this. That is the kind of thing that reaps rewards later in life, but you already know that.

Some beautiful top grade oak you have there, strait grain, not a knot to be found. Nice work.
