So I was wanting a big bar for my 084 and 075. So I got a deal on a couple of old Cannon roller tip bars (40" and 50"). Now I have a few questions for anyone with knowledge about these bars. Is there anyway I can tell if these are really Cannon bars? There is no marking anywhere besides the roller tip which says Oregon (could easily be a replacement tip). Secondly, anyone know how many drive links these bars would take. I know these a few obscure questions, so if you can help me out in anyway, I really appreciate it.

Here are some pics of the 50" mounted on my 075:

They're definitely not Oregon bars, Oregon never made a large-Stihl mount bar in those lengths. If there is absolutely no markings at all, they could be General bars, which are just as good as Cannons (from that era).

If you look at Bailey's bar and chain guide, they have a listing for .375" and .404" driver counts for the 50" bar. The 40" bar isn't listed there but in my old Windsor applications guide it's listing the 075 with a 36" bar as using 104 drive links. I imagine a 40" would be around 111-113. You could just take a piece of chain and run it around the bar and leave yourself seven drive links on the tail and see how many drive links that ends up with.

Bailey's 41" Woodsman Pro is showing 122 drive links for .404" for 084.

Thanks Jacob J for the info! Never heard of General, learned something today. Anyway the bar mount design could tell what brand it is?

I guess I will just take it to a dealer and have them mock it up for me.

The bars are in really good shape, light wear on the rails and the rollers are pretty smooth.

Could you post a picture of the tails of the bars? I might be able to tell if they're General or old Cannon by the differences on the tails. General tend to be more concave on the end whereas Cannon tend to be flatter.
