Can't find the bagworms

For the last several years, bagworms have been numerous about this time of year. It's usually around the 4th of July. But this year I have seen no signs of them. I am hoping that the long Chicago winter killed them off, or maybe theyr'e just late. The catalpa is supposedly the indicator plant and it's almost done blooming.

Is everyone else not finding them or is it just me?
