Carbs - Are Tillotson / Walbro parts interchangeable? Help!

Hi people,

I'm giving my ts400 a service/restore. It's got a Tillotson carb fittted, which had 274B634 stamped on it.



My problem is that this carb, is not one listed in stihl's IPL . Also, my usual parts people although they can get the gasket kit for the carb, they can't help on other parts for it e.g. the inlet needle and control spring.

Now the IPL does list these carbs....which have a lot of interchangeable parts it seems.

HS-274E
WJ-108A
HS-279D
HS-301B

And my parts peeps do stock all the parts for the Walbro...so I wondered whether the Walbro needle and spring:

1110 121 5100
1117 122 3005

would just work in my tillotson?

For what it's worth, it looks like they put this needle into just about everything...

You have the ipl for the hs274, that is it.

Do you what it means when the part has got an asterisk next to it?

e.g.

So obviously I need 4116 121 5100 and his friends. Which fortunately my parts people have in stock:

Oh right...but in my case...fortuitously not too previous to be no longer stocked.

Buy a Stens HS series carb kit for $10. It will have all the parts you need and them some. If it's not an HS it's something equally common. All that matters is Tillotson and then the two letters. The numbers are meaningless. I can't believe your parts guy has not told you this

Thanks guys, I figured out that I was fine along - since my tillotson is in my parts people's IPL afterall and I don't need to try to swap in walbro ones.
