I acquired a Stihl MS-250 recently that was missing the air filter cover. I got it to run with some fuel mix poured in the carb throat.
When I started looking into it closely, the carburetor is mounted so closely to the cylinder that the front adjustment screw is completely covered by the plastic cylinder cover. In the photo, the carb is not bolted down. When it is bolted down, a little less of the rubber grommet around the adjustment screws is visible.
Am I missing a spacer between the carb and boot, or maybe have the wrong carb for the saw?

They had different carbs used on this model family at different times.
some low speed screws are difficult to reach and may to drill hole in housing to allow access to screws.

So, I looked at a couple of videos of Carb replacement for the MS-250, and was able to see that the rubber boot that covers the adjustment screws is designed to fit under the housing.
I checked the saw again, and there is an access hole for the L screw through the black top handle.
In the end, just ignorance on my part.

Nope. The screwdriver enters the cover, slides thru the grommet, and lands on the idle screw.....on a bit of an angle. You are fine.
