Remington super 660 is it possible to switch out the carter carb for a tilloston hl159a? I have 3 big remingtons 1 660 2 754 and would like to keep all the carbs the same plus I'm struggling on this carter carb rebuild. I see on the hl159a rebuild kit kt says for 660 so does that mean late model 660 saws came with the tilloston hl159a???

The adapter is on a sweet near mint super 754. I could be totally wrong on the carb but the one hole on carb wasn't matching up I don't think. Last pic is of 660. I have another super 754 on the way that needs a carb rebuild I will try and check it out again. You guys know how much fun it is getting carbs put of these. I was waiting for @67L36Driver to chime in, that guy is a enclyopedia for remington saws. I finally got into the carb more and tore it almost all the way down. Rebuild kit on way from sugar creek. I will update this weekend hopefully. Pic of ndr carb face.

Years ago I took a Tilly HL from a Stihl 08s and mounted it on a Tecumseh 8hp motor on a John Deere rider. The Tilly carb was better than the Tec one but I had no governor as the linkage was totaly backward in direction it could have been done but would have taken some time I just hooked the throttle control to the carb shutter with no governor .It worked really well as long as you were not cutting deep grass you could do it but you had to manually advance throttle.
Last year I took a Tilly HR74A from a 72 Skidoo Olympik and temporarily mounted it on a 1941 Farmall tractor it was as smooth as silk but again I had no governor. One of these years I will make a set up to match the governor to the carb throttle because I saw how much better the H ran with the Hr.I only had to file a bit on one screw hole to get the carb to fit.
Well boys dont take any bets on when I will do this I am running out of tomorrows and next Years.

Does anyone know if I have to drill out the brass fitting to remove? The kit from sugar creek says it comes with a brass rivet for setting the fuel pump diaphram and i have no clue on what that means. Thanks in advance.

First, wait til you get the kit. Second, that brass piece is real thin. You can just pry it out but will probably ruin it. I never spent alot of time trying to figure it out. That being the fuel pump, I suppose passage is for the needle inlet.

Thanks, yes I believe you are correct because the needle is on opposite side of carb/fitting. And I am waiting for kit, 🤞 they will have some rebuild literature included. 1st time purchase from sugar creek.
