hello

Any suggestions on where to start looking for information on becoming certified..??

Another thing what is every one here paying for a million dollar policy, on 5 employess...a month???

thanks

If you're talking about ISA certification, go to their web site. If you mean state certification, I wouldn't know exactly who to call, but it shouldn't be hard to find out. Call government offices. Your reference to insurance and employees is a little confusing. Worker's Compensation has a theoretically unlimited payout, you don't choose a policy. They charge you according to your payroll. As for insurance, I have a million dollar policy and currently have no employees. Damage to a house, a crane job gone wrong, and God forbid a bystander somehow gets hurt, a million dollars could easily be spent.

Insurance Costs: Liability & Worker's Compensation

Canyon,

It appears that you are confusing general liability coverage and worker's compensation. General liability will be based as a rate of payroll or gross revenue by most underwriters. Other criteria may also be considered by an insurer such as area of operations, scope of operations (ground level pruning or 100' dismantling with cranes).

Insurance is not like other products. There are so many unique variables that it cannot be treated as a commodity. Find a specialist that can assist you in arboriculture risk management (insurance shouldn't be the only solution to risks). In the U.S., services such as TreePro and ArborMax should be helpful. In Canada, try TREESURE (see: www.treesure.ca).

Best Wishes!

Scott
