the voices in my head tell me to buy chainsaws
Are any of these something that guys and in particular builders might be interested in if I stock them?
Clearly they wont be in the numbers for the thousands of Stihl and Husqvarna parts we stock, but it never hurts to expand our offerings.

Dose anyone ever really rebuild trimmers and brush cutters? Not sure how many of those would sell. I still have some here from parts lots and gave some away to some hot rod friends for gear shift knobs. :ices_rofl:

Not really seeing the Alpina/Castor stuff moving much either.

Surprised to see the 166 pistons on the list, thats good to see..

Honestly the only parts I'd stock are for Makita/Dolmar's and the pro-grade Echo/Shindaiwa/Maruyama, since they are the only stuff worth fixing.

The rest is only good as spare hulks or as scrap metal.

Honestly aside from a few models like the 166 I don’t even know which are saws and which are those other crappy tools that wish they were saws :)
I see a lot of parts available for homie xl-12 and 1050 which is surprising also 3 different 242 husky Pistons I will bring in to investigate

Who are the makers of these? I know a few years back when looking for a Echo 900 piston, Golf was the only game in town.

The Poulan 2550 piston is still a available OEM part and is like $20 so I don't think that is one to stock. The Partner 351 though is a Poulan saw made in mass quantities (tons of Craftsman) and if inexpensive enough might sell. It would need to be pointed out what Poulan models it would fit though to move as the Partner versions were mostly for the European markets.

I'll put in a vote for the Oleomac 961/962 p&c, pure quad port Italian goodness there.

I believe they will also drop into the 956 as a bb option and are a very interesting potential candidate for various hybrids.
I have a couple of this platform in JD colors and run across them fairly regularly, if top ends were available for reasonable $
I'd be more inclined to go out of my way for them.
It's a also somewhat of an upgrade for the 48mm JD saws as those are dual port.

I don't think I would get too carried away with the big bore kits- Ebay is lousy with them and Bruce has to lower the price so much on Deal of the Day sales that he's close to giving them away.

I got a new Dolmar 7900 BB kit on that last DOD special for $21. The newer, larger Partner and Husqvarna cut-off saws are worth stocking some parts for as large construction companies are rebuilding those- K-750/760, K-950/960, K-1250 and 3120K.
Newer Echo, Dolmar, and Makita stuff is usually a winner. Older, larger Echo and Tanaka stuff isn't hardly moving at all. Newer, smaller Tanaka and Maruyama stuff would be ok. I wouldn't stock anything for smaller Alpina or Oleo-Mac as there's very little distribution of that
stuff in North America.

Bump, would be cool if the aftermarket would come out with a 52mm option for the husky 181/281/288 platform. Not sure on the particulars of the 52mm oleo mac 980/981 kit you have in your list dave, if thats even a feasible use for that kit.

Marked saws as no, maybe or yes based on what in recent years has been in need of parts. I am a fan of the Oleo-macs however I do not remember which models were in need and I see very few of them at all any more. Hardly anyone seems to rebuild the old Echos or Tanaka’s, nice saws just not much attention. The Alpina’s are often in need of other parts so not real sure how many folks would buy a piston for a saw that needs more parts that are harder to find. Alpina has a bigger following in West Virginia than around here.

Would not see any of these as big sellers. The Dolmar bits probably sell the most if folks knew about them and the price was right. The non chainsaw stuff I would be very cautious about, have not met many folks that bother to rebuild them. Scrap yards are littered with Echo, Redmax, trimmers and blowers.

Dolmar 120/133 cylinder sets, 309 multipurpose saw cylinder sets would be in demand as much as just the pistons. Dolmar 9000/9010 cylinder sets. 9000/9010 pistons would sell.

Husqvarna 1100-2101 cylinder sets.

Actually, the Partner 351 p/c set is the same as the Poulan 2550 that you said needs to be a set. It is a bigger bore upgrade actually so no need to really stock the smaller Poulan 2550 piston or cyl at all.

Good to know.

Never seen the Partner 351, it would have to be listed on the website very clearly that it would be a drop in replacement for the Poulan 2550. It would be better to have it listed as a Poulan part referring to 2550 and sold as a drop in upgrade in size as well as under the Partner brand.

Certainly would not bother stocking both kits and always default to the largest cc.

Why isnt a dolmar 510 or 5100 aftermarket p&c kit made th wreck like 200$ for the oem and the saws not worth that I need one now and I'm not spending 200$ on a saw that's worth 150$ to someone else and nothing to me cause I think there garbage
