Are the screws that hold the muffler on supposed to have LocTite on them ? Pain to get out.

The piston is shot. Is a big bore the way to go?

The tank vent is gone except for a little red thingy sticking up. Is that one part or several?

Thanks a bunch.

There were three different styles of tank vent. The red rubber thing you see is a one-way valve. There should be a piece on top that snaps to the tank with an aluminum ring. Part #'s 1122 350 5850 (tank vent) and 1122 353 0200 (clamp) are what my 046 uses.

Yes muffler screws need Loctite.

As far as big bore or not, can your cylinder be salvaged?

It sounds like you could benefit from a 046 IPL and Factory Service Manual. Scroll up to the manuals thread and beg.
