I just finished installing crank bearings for the first time thanks to this site. It seemed to go just fine, I searched all the info on doing this and used Lakesides way on the pto side bearing installing it in the case first pressing it in so it stopped with the oil pump mounted on the case then pulling the crank into the bearing till it bottomed I used the clutch center and a little heat and cooling and it went good. Then I installed the bearing on the flywheel side of the crank useing some heat and cooling not a problem, then heated the flywheel side case and put it all together (with the gasket) and installed the bolts went great useing Pioneerguy's info. I tapped on the crank to free it a little seems smooth it rotates with your fingers a little drag but no tight spots. What I did notice is the Pto side of the crank is very close to the case not rubbing but you only have about .009" clearance between the crank and the case and the flywheel side has quite a bit more. All bearings and the case gasket are stihl oem. I also install the oil pump it sits right on the case flat and installed washer, oil pump, gear and clutch washer and clutch to make sure oil pump gear spins free and it does. So is something wrong with that clearance or is it normal? Any info appriciated and Thanks in advance.
