Tant no biggie, your carb is probably just dried out. Give it a small shot of fuel through the carb. Once she fires and gets to pumping fuel she'll take off, see it all the time with saws that have been run completely empty and put away for months...
:agree2:
Edit, just read the post above mine.
I dont think the oil would have done that, but im not sure either. I have never done that with my own saws. I know that as per Thall, Ive had ones that are hard starts & usually a little squirt of fuel in there will get things going.
Im guessing you may have to do a rebuild if you're seeing buildup in the carb. Is it possible the oil has plugged the fuel line? could you start by just replacing that?
no need. i forgot to mention above that the saw runs fine now. after i dissolved the slimy plug it started right up.
of note:
there was no other buildup of any kind in the carb.... clean as a whistle.

hhhmmm...
today the 020avp super was cutting great. second tank in and it idled up and stalled. i thought it was the position i had it in (low gas) so i righted it, fueled it, and started it up again and it ran a few minutes and stalled. set it down, try it again 15 mins later and it ran fine and cut for a bit, idled up, stalled, and would not restart.
each time it acted like it was out of gas........................
how much you guys wanna bet theres some kind of slime ball bouncing around inside the carb on this one too?
i am beginning to wonder if my gas can is going gummy/breaking down on the inside or something....
Any chance you got water in your gas?
Maybe even water in the gas stations tank.
Ethanol attracts moisture and can produce a substance like that.
I remember when ethanol first started being put in the gas here, a lot of cars sat on the sides of the road with clogged fuel filters.
Of course I could just be passing on bad info that was passed to me.... :spam:
