Got it, thats different then the silver one and the non-epa one I have here, mine are a little bigger like the 220 muffler. Even though for a 36cc and 40-42cc poulan.

I have a 136, it is what it is - a somewhat low cost, small cu in homeowner saw with the Husquvarna name on it. I like mine for what I do with it, cut a few small branches, a little brush around my camp & pond, maybe a board or two on a building project. It always starts good & is just handy to have around, just don't expect it to be an all around tree cutting, land clearing, do all saw, it's just a little guy.

I have a 141 (the same saw but for displacment). It had a catalytic muffler on it (signified by a green fuel cap). I bought a 41 muffler off EBAY and richened up the carb and now its a whole different saw. Do yourself a favor and de-EPA that thing. I like mine.... its light, reliable, and if I bust it its no big deal. You could gut the muffler you have, or find a stock muffler off a 36 or a 41. They'll bolt rght on. Let that thing BREATHE.

To maybe put a answer in for all the questions for the husky/ poulan saws. I have a 137 with 3/8lp windsor chain and 16" bar. Opened up the muffler and adjusted the carb. Only run premium gas. That little thing screams like no other, couldnt be happier with a small saw like that. Used it for my climbing saw on my 1st climb takedown job. Light weight and decent fuel economy, and cheap enough to toss and not be worried

I think the muffler is black. I'll have to look at it this weekend.

I'm from Massillon, but I'll be in Pittsburgh, PA until December 31. After that, I'll either move to Cleveland or stay in Pittsburgh. After that, I will trade my blue collar for a white one and a good pay increase. When that happens, I'm definitely buying a new saw. :)

I'd rather gut the muffler I have than buy a new one.

I am 45 mins from Akron southwest. There is all kinds of muffler modding threads on here for those little saws. Open her up and get rid of the carb epa plastic limiters and open the carb up to really run and run much cooler too..

Basic carb tuning after muffler mod. or maybe try it without the limiters on the carb to get you in the ballpark now.

cd , the IPL of your 2004 136 LE shows the muffler with the rear exhaust outlet . http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/usa/2004/I04000/I0401901.pdf

ST, I think it had to do with California emissions, seems like LE was the saws that could be sold in that state, others without the restricted mufflers or carbs would state couldn't be sold there.

Now this is just my guess from what I have read on some new LE saws listed, I could be totally wrong.

Just a wild azz guess here too, LE = Low Emissions maybe?

Yep made for Calif. IPL's show 136 LE (California) (2001-06)

More EPA info on saws etc.... http://www.fs.fed.us/eng/pubs/html/02511204/02511204.htm#ChainSaws

open up the muffler, if I remember right it has the poulan basket and screen inside 86 it. I don't even know that it will be that much louder just more flow.
I 86'd it off my 141 after reading your post. What a difference in power. I cut up some beech that I thought i would need 357 for. BTW gentlemen, love the site, been following your advice awhile now.

I am happy to report that after tweaking the carb adjustments for about 30 minutes, the saw runs much better. :)

The most difficult part was finding a special screwdriver to fit the H and L screws on that thing. I was able to borrow one from one of my coworkers. He's the kind of guy that seems to have a tool for about anything.

BTW, the muffler is silver, with the rear outlet.

Thanks again,
