Dolmar 5100 limiter caps

I've been reading alot of threads about pulling limiter caps vs. just trimming the wings and leaving the caps in place for various saws. I guess I'm just looking for a straigt forward answer that applies directly to a Dolmar 5100. So, can I just trim the wings without removing the caps and be done? If no, and I do have to remove the caps, do they literally just pull off with a pair of pliers? I don't want to damage the needles by improperly removing the caps.

Just trim the tabs/wings. If for some reason you can't get full adjustment, yes just pull them off. On my 5100 the dealer removed only the (L) limiter when it was new.

You shouldnt have to pull them imho. The clearance should be ample, once you've trimmed those tabs.
