Long time reader, first time poster. I recently got a ps-510 off ebay from a seller who disclosed the saw needed a coil. I figured it would be pretty straight forward to pull the coil, read the part number off it and order a new one. Of course there is no part number on the coil, so I've been searching for the right replacement. I'm coming up with all sorts of numbers and nothing definitive...
181143204 = non easy start? (pretty sure I don't want to try this one)
181143205 = red, ps-510 (but doesn't denote easy start)
181143206 = dcs5121 easy start (5105/5121 use the same coil as the 510?)
The coil that came out is black and I assume the original. The plug was an NGK BPMR7A and looks new. I'd guess the seller put a new plug in hoping to solve the ignition problem.
Overall the saw looks to be in great shape, but only pulls 140psi which sounded a bit low to me. I yanked the cylinder to have a look and everything seems to be good. Cylinder still has good crosshatching and the piston has almost no wear. For grins I pulled the base gasket and checked piston clearance without it, came in at 17.5 thousandths. The base gasket measured 38.5?! I'm definitely not putting the stock base gasket back in, but not sure if should try to find some thinner gasket material or if 17.5thou is enough clearance.
