Cool pics! Pretty neat to think that some of these logs are what "aqua loggers" are pulling up today.

The trails those horses pulled down were groomed and then iced down thats how these horses can pull such big loads! But this was a regular practice back at the turn of the century! the tractor pulling the sleds were trains of sleds that the horses pulled out to a small landing and then they were hooked together at the end of the day to be pulled to the river landing! That tractor was called a snowmobile and thats where todays snowmobiles name came from.
Stacking logs on trucks and sleds did make them tippy and there was allot of accidents but back then horses and men were considered expendable and production was more in portent than safety !
