Well, it sure did feel like a well built tool in my hands.

That's why one followed me home today, along with a stand.

Had a wood handled timberjack, but last winter on the largest of logs I wasn't getting a warm-fuzzy feeling from the feel of the wooden handle.

Best part of the tale: I bought it from the owner of the company.

Turns out they're made in Vernon, CT which is about 35 minutes from me.

With no shipping and $5 off due to a scratch, I don't think I'd ever see a better price on one.

Had a local "Celebrating Agriculture" show out this way today which if you follow a long and convoluted history started off as a forestry fair about 20 years ago started by the local forest landowners association. So they still do a few forestry related things -- had a "Games of Logging" along with Woodmizer and Logrite as exhibitors. http://www.celebratingagriculture.org/
