Hey guys has anyone here used grand fir( I call it balsam )as a straping material? Its much like pine quite soft with very hard knots.
I was thinking of using it to screw a metalroof to !!do you think it would work well as astraping material?
I have several dieing grands (They get a bettle under the bark here and it kills them ) Would like to use it as somthing other than fire wood as it does not give off much heat as firewood ,but thought if I mill it into 2x4 it wood make OK straping for my house when I When get started on it!

Ive used white pine

Ive used white pine on strapping for barns. I dont see why what you have wouldnt work. I have always used rubber washer or lead washer nails but Im sure they make screw fasteners now.

Rubberwashered screws was my plan!
