Walking the yard this morning I noticed my humongous American Holly is dropping it's berries. Still some on the tree and plenty on the ground.
I collected a handful of them and plan on getting more.
I think these would do well along the fence row/property line between me and the crop field since these and the arbs/cedars are the only two that weren't damaged from the chemical trespass two years ago.
I found this info on how to prep the seeds, but I'd really rather direct plant the seeds in the ground.
Is that possible? I also noticed a couple of volunteers near the big tree. Want to transplant these.
I understand it could take two years for them to germinate.
If I do this would I need to separate the seed from the fruit before planting?
Has anyone had any success planting holly from seed?
