When i try starting my 5100S, about 75% of the time the cord pulls almost freely. Like it's not really cranking the piston. Then finally after lots of tries it pulls like normal and fires up after a few "good" pulls. Is there something i need to replace or adjust ?

Your starter pawls are not deploying when you pull the cord. Take the starter cover off and pull the cord. the pawls should open out when you pull the cord. If they are not look for something bent or binding. If you don't see anything post a pic or two.

Thanks. I'll check it out in the morning.
