Yes learning to cut your own wood is the only way to go. An industrious person with a wood stove and chainsaw will never be cold there always seems to be a never ending supply of wood avaliable for free check out the scavengers thread in this forum for ideas on where and how.

And dont get discouraged by some of the guys with multiple tractors and big trucks and trailers plenty of wood can be collected with an electric or hand saw and the trunk of a car or minivan.
