Hello, good folks. I'm looking for a professional opinion for this tree of mine. It was here when we moved in, about three years ago, and I think it's starting to look a little rough. I have attached photos here. Do you all see any issues on the base of the trunk there?

Any opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.

Ah I see. Does that mean that this tree is doomed? How bad does it look? Any suggestions? (Should I get rid of it, etc.?). I like the size and spot it's in for the yard.

When should you plant a new tree. 20 years ago or today. Cut and get another one started. Or leave that one, and baby it until it dies. Or plant another one close to it and cut this one when the other gets bigger.
