I was given a Harbor Freight chainsaw sharpener. Its is electric powered and mounted on my bench...and believe it or not...I am getting pretty good at sharpening my chains. The first couple wound up half-way decent. The one was a little jumpy where I didn't't file all the cutters consistently but since then I feel I have developed the "touch."

Anyhow...

For my Poulan chains I have been using the 1/8" grinding wheel. I don't think that is the size I am supposed to use for my 455 Rancher's chain. Do I use the 3/16" grinding wheel or can I use the 1/8" grinding wheel? Any help here would be appreciated.

My Rancher's chain is an Oregon 72LGX068G...3/8 .050"

Thanks

not sure who make Poulan chain but normally 3/8 chain used 3/16 wheels.
I'm learning too I picked up a 511a and am liking it so far. be prepared to chew up a few chains before you get good.
If you have a new one around use it as a template for what yours should look like.
