so last you blokes heard of me i was buildign a logosol clone. well i lasshed out and baught a second hand lucas 8" 25hp swing blade mill and ill never look back.
i paid for the thing in 2 mounths of verry part time work. and use it to cut timber for sale, for use in my fencing business adn to cut split posts and boy is it better than ripping splits will a chainsaw.
i thaught id take some pics of the hoop pine i milled this morning.
800mm log loaded in and top flitch off.
half way there.
so i cut 3 logs this morning. and this is what i got.
tehy are all 8" boards stacked there and the pile to the left still has to be treated and stacked. hoop pine gets a thing called sap stain witch is a mold that grows in the sap of the tree. you can see it on the ends of the logs adn a bit into them in some pics. you have so spray it with fungaside and cross youir fingers and toes to stop it.
a close up of the grain
all stacked up.and coverd
i got a good colection of sawdust and flitches for wall shingles left over.
p.s i love my lucas:biggrinbounce2:
