I just bought a 60" bar and a roll of 3/8 chain for my mill.

I have 7T and 8T sprockets.
How many drive links do I need?

A mate of mine has the same bar but he runs 404 and uses 172 links.

I make the total chain length = 172 x (2 x 0.404) = 138.98"

Then using the 3/8 chain; 138.98/( 2 * 3/8) = 185.3 links

Is this correct?

No...

Not correct, as every brand of bar could be different, how many tooth nose sprocket and the bar's belly will make a difference.

As mentioned, turn the adjuster all the way in, roll the chain out and go from there.

My 60 inch Cannon fits fine with 183 dl (7 tooth 3/8). Probably would also fit with 8 tooth, but will never know.

Cannon says 185dl, but that didn't leave enough adjustment to satisfy me.

That is on my 3120, but on both my 3120 and 880 each 50 inch Cannon takes the same length chain, so I am guessing it is the same for each with a 60 inch Cannon.

In case you missed it, it's the exact same bar.

Just to complicate matters oregon give a multiplier, of 0.0611 for 3/8 chain.
ie # drive links x 0.611 will give length of chain in feet.
So for 11.61 ft / 0.611 = 190 links?

I will roll it out on the bar as suggested.

Cheers
