How much is this gonna cost me?

I got a ms361 with a scored piston on the exhaust side, and very lightly on the intake side. I assume the PO ran straight gas?

I havn't looked at the cylinder, but lets assume it needs replaced too.

How much money am I looking at for a piston kit from the dealer?

New cylinder?

There are some on ebay for around $40, but OEM would obviously be better.

I can do the work myself, but how much would it cost me if I had the dealer do it?

220$ for the piston and cylinder
5$ for the gasket
60$ or what ever an hour labor is would cost you locally
with tax and all about 300$ give or take.

Now, hopefully the cylinder can be saved, How much for the just a piston kit?

You're better off going for the whole P&C, the piston alone is 105$ not sure if that includes rings, because those are 22$ a piece. By the P&C if you can save the cylinder, sell the brand new one on ebay and you knock a couple buck off the price of the piston and rings. I'd imagine you can get a decent price for it.

I don't like to go cheap on these kinds of things, but dang! That's expensive!

I may try a meteor piston kit for $40 off ebay... Unless I'm askin for trouble...

Anybody got a Beef with Meteor pistons?

I have bought a couple set's of OEM Stihl rings, dealer sells
them $22 for the set,

I thought all Stihl Piston's come with rings, wrist pin and pin clips.

I was just searching the Stihl dealer website and found those prices, it doesn't say what all is included.

105 for the whole kit is still pricy, but it would give me the piece of mind that it is gonna last.

it will last 2500 hours if you don't use straight gas...
