There was a "most dangerous splitter" thread here a while back. Those two may lack some safety features but they aren't the worst.

The first time any piece of equipment is view as "safe" is the time it will jump out and bite you
 
Is the first one making firewood or kindling??

The second one looks cool. Must make your hands hurt after a while though:)
 
I like the first one.. Simple rotating screw.. Pretty dangerous in the current configuration but with some design mods might make for a good splitter.. Can't figure out how the wood was split before cutting into lengths though.. Seems like the wood was split into four before being feed into the machine. And what is the spike for on the one end?
