I recall my first 350 had an 18 incher and pulled it fine. This one i just built has a 16 inch and appears oem.

Has anyone put a 20inch .325 setup on one? Also going to go to a rim drive clutch...if i keep the 16 inch...maybe go to an 8 pin for more chain speed?

Just spitballing some ideas....

To use higher pin rims on smaller saws we must keep the chain razor sharp at all times. On my 70’s husky 240se professional saw I ran 8 & 9 pin rims on a 16” bar. But for cutting smaller diameter trees and tops. I never cut tops up with a 2100/99 cc. Too dangerous. Try a 8 pin rim first.
My 266se handled everything inbetween the 240/2100.

I use an 18" bar on my Husky 350 and 353. I run a 20" on my 51 but only after I upgraded it. All are .325" pitch chain. I reserve a 20" bar and .375" pitch for my Husky 257. It can pull it. More power is required for both a larger pitch and a longer bar.

I have a 359, 257, 350 I may use 325 chain on them too with larger rims. The 359 might run a 9 pin rim better in 325 than 3/8”/ chain with a 18” bar.

Thanks everyone, ill just upgrade to the 7 pin rim drive for now.run it some..maybe grab an 8 pin later and see how it likes it. Still need to get it broken in. I just deeply dislike spur sprockets...love that rim drive.

I change every saw I purchase to a rim from a spur sprocket. Then with a sprocket nose bar it’s rollerized. Way less friction to spin the chain plus probably a small gain in hp too.

On smaller cc saws let the bar length determine the size of the rim.

What do yall think of this bar and going to a full skip chain? It really likes the rim drive and pulls the 16 inch full comp easy...2 tanks of gas it just keeps getting stronger...
