I need to find a new clutch for my 266se , the spring broke and the shoes look very worn. I have been trying for days to find a used one but no luck around my area. I have seen some on ebay but they are the fine threaded ones and i have the coarse thread one. My questions are ,1. can the shoes and spring from the fine thread be used on my coarse thread clutch ? 2. does anyone know what the thickness of the shoes and the drum should be ( my shoes are looking very thin at the middle , with some heat and blue spots.)
Thanks in advance

As long as the fine thread clutch uses the same style spring, you should be able to interchange parts without issue. As you can see there is quite a bit more meat left on that fine thread one I have here, it looks pretty low time. The friction area is 7/64 at its thinnest point on that one.

Also have a question about which sprocket came with the 266se ,mine is a 3/8 8t , but most on the net are listing 3/8 7t , what is the difference between using the 7t vs 8t with a 16inch bar ? Which is the recomended sprocket

People that have spare good condition coarse thread clutches- usually have them for a reason and don't like parting with them.
Buy a fine thread clutch, swap the shoes and spring onto your original spider.

The saw would have come out with a 7 pin driver, someone replaced your one with an 8 at some time. They are like pulleys on a belt drive, or cogs on a bike chain- they alter the gearing and bigger = an increase in chain speed but forfeit a wee bit of bottom end torque to do so. With a 16 inch bar I doubt you will notice a whole lot of difference between the two.
