I'm cleaning up my husky 44 and i came across this piece wedged between the carb baffle and the cylinder. It must fit in there somehow but i'm darned if i can figure it out! I do have all the manuals but it only gives the piece a number, 501 66 41-01. Anybody know where it goes?

I do not know where it goes but looking at the material it is clearly not a heat shield and more of a gasket. On older saws that kind of material was for sealing the carb to a top cover which housed an air filter. Hopefully that steers you in the right direction

Goes under carb. Most are rotten and gone.

Its a sweet little saw! Light with plenty of power. This one was literally packed with oily sawdust around the flywheel/condensor area especially. Carb diaphram full of dust. I'm hoping the deep clean will get rid of the problem it has; after about 15 minutes of running it will die and not start until its cool again.
