I finally got around to putting my nephew's 51 back together and it fired right up! Great little saw and a pleasure to work on. Does need a few more things checked out prior to any serious service so I have a coupla questions on the 51 subject in general -- not to hijack the thread, but I'm gonna tear this thing back down and go over it more thoroughly before returning it since we're still not sure why the piston got scored.
1. What's the easiest and most common method for blocking off the intake on these things for a vac/pres test while still having access to the impulse location for a hose connection? Looks like a real pain in the a$$ unless you have some sort of special intake adapter for the job.
2. And do you really need to split the case just to replace or check the tank vent?:msp_confused:
