HX's, is cheap as good as high dollar?

my friend spent nearly $400 on his 100K btu unit from central boiler. is there really a difference in quality? or is someone getting carried away with markups?

Central Boiler's HX is probably real good quality but also a premium price. You can find cheaper ones that will work just as good. I got mine off e-bay.

$400 sounds pretty steep. I know there are differences but right now I can't remember what they are. I think one of the differences was how many little tubes the main inlet broke into. (kinda hard to explain)
The more small tubes the main broke into was better than fewer larger tubes.
I'm talking about the ones that criss cross the xchanger with the fins attached.
When I bought mine the guy explained it all to me but it's been to long ago to really remember.

according to these spec's it's the same as centrals...

and yah, i looked at his parts invoice. $380.....

and yeah, more smaller tubes the better. more surface area to exchange heat...
