I bought a splitter and don't know who made it. It is a horizontal splitter with an electric start B&S Vanguard 16 hp twin, a 28 gpm Barnes pump, Prince valves, auto cycle, a log lift and Prince 5" bore 30" cylinder. The whole thing is powder coated and whoever made it does some of the nicest welding I have ever seen. The hydraulic tank is 30 gal and the gas tank is 10 gal. It has a spring suspension, but no lights and no safety chains. I've looked at Split Right, Built-Rite, American CLS and Timberwolf, but I don't think it is any of those. Does anyone know what I've got?

I have no idea how much it was new, but I paid $4150 for it. I looks practically new. The battery has the date code for February, 2010 punched out so I think that it was built then or later. The guy from whom I bought it had gotten it from the original owner and didn't know alot about it. From what I have seen, comparable ones sell for quite a bit more, but the downside is that I have no warranty. All the components are top grade and it seems very well made so I'm not too worried about not having any warranty. I am guessing the weight at a ton or more. It is almost impossible to move by hand or with a trailer dolly, but that isn't a big deal for me.
I split some sycamore with it just to see how it worked and it only went to second stage once in 2 hours. The cycle time is just under 10 seconds, 30 inches out and 30 inches back.

My guess it was home made by someone that was a perfectionist. Nice looking splitter, I think the price was fair for what you got.

Good score

Modified? Someone has a lot of time!

Looks like a TimberWolf http://timberwolfcorp.com/log_splitters/, but modified with the stand being out as far as it is. Maybe one of the mechanists at TW played with leftover parts and came up with this? Or someone copied a TW with some twists?
You got a nice machine. I need to figure out someway to get in your will. Or you need to find from the guy where he got it!!!

That is one nice splitter, but the controls and log lift are on the wrong side(for a lefty).. Can you take a picture of the muffler setup for me? I'd like to get something like that hooked up on mine.

I dont know who made it, but that is a nice peace of equipment. Congrats on the purchase lkdvm" I cant remember what website i found it on,but someone sells a kit to build a splitter. Engine, cylinder, pump, exe., but you have to come up with your own design. Maybe that's what it is.

I Like It

This one certainly looks like a dream to operate. I like the log lift and the large area working tables. This looks like a very well designed piece of machinery for sure.
