Filing from outside in is much easier to see the angles. It keeps the little burr from being on the outside of the cutter.
I think andy/redprospector posted one in this thread. It will give you some good reading for a while. I'll try to make a short one filing a tooth or two if I can in a little while.

Your welcome. I might get a short video when the wife gets back home. The tripod broke so I can't figure out how to hold the camera and file at the same time.
So you want your wife to file and make the vid at the same time?
Alright here's a short video of filing 2 cutters on each side. Enjoy:msp_thumbup:

If you noticed mdavlee filed in one direction, the only thing pulling the file backwards does, is dull the file.
The thing and finger will get used to it. I can't square file with gloves on. I tighten the chain where it spins a little hard to file like that. You can actually stretch it and put a scrench in the bottom to tighten it up more.
I haven't noticed anything other than normal wear on my files going back and forth, or in a single direction. Perhaps it's the technique/person?
NO. If you look at a file closely you will see they actually only work in one direction, drawing the file backwards rounds over the cutting edge of the file dulling it. A smooth push forward is the only way a metal file should be used, and your files will last much longer. Ask yourself why the file feels and sounds different when you draw it backwards, you'll start to get the idea.
