I read that sometimes loggers will clearcut an area leaving some trees uncut (because they do not want the particular type of wood?), then will go back to the clearcut and intentionally make snags of these trees (girdle them).

Are they doing this because they do not want these trees to live and propogate in the clearcut?

Why not just fell them?

Why would leaving them standing as snags be better?

Wildlife trees for birds and bees, then they blow down and feed the bugs(entomologist trees) and then rot for the trees that return healthy and strong. When trees grow too close they become dependant and each other for strength agaisnt wind and weather. Takes quite some time but it'll come around to a healthy forest again.
