If we look at chainsaw genetics as whole, all saws are related. The argument could be made that the Stihl 361 and 441 are Partner inspired designs. Does that make them a Partner? No, it makes them a Stihl that evolved (genetics) from their previous generations. It is survival of the fittest of the saws. The Partner air filtration was a good design so it passed on, although the Partner brand was lost. With the demise of the company, a good idea was carried on into the Husky's and Jreds. So the 490 is a Partner saw, there was a duplicate saw in different colors so it isn't a true JRed. The 2051 still has some "influences", as does the 361, but it is still not a Partner but a true JRed. Jonsered's have a few characteristics that are unique to that brand which makes them a separate family, different genetic line, they are only related to Husky by marriage. The newer ones are the offspring of the JRed/Husky marriage, but they are still unique. With the genetics of their ancestors, they are NOT Partner's or Husky's.

So, if I understand this correctly, the modern Jonsereds, Husqvarnas, Poulans, etc are a well bred family. On the other hand the Stihls are just the 3 fingered, 6 toed, freaks of chainsaw society due to decades of inbreeding.

You have that correct. ;)

Except somewhere along the line, the germans couldn't resist the Swedish. Next thing you know there is the 361.
