I picked up a really nice 298xp recently. Are they similar in design to the 288xp or totally different?
... the 288 only comes out on the bigger stuff, but it's real close power wise.

288's don't cut wood...they are kinda like an ornamental saw to satisfy/medicate CAD infested minds. You just start it up put it on the ground (tuned a Lil rich of coarse) and listen to it like fine classical music with your good mates.
Almost but not quiet the the sound of a will built 2100cdhands down the 288 makes the best sound of any saw I have ever heard- period. That "thump" is intoxicating.
Now is there anywhere you Husky guys know of still selling the bar stud bushings to run a Stihl bar? I've got a spare 36" Stihl bar that'd fit nicely on this thing if I could find the bushings. My local saw shop laughed and said back when there was this thing called a logger he had a whole box of them on the shelf.
I figured so, CCC doesn't publish the year of manuf. for either one but the 298 is pretty old. I found some info somewhere, when I first got it (wasn't that long ago), and I think it was made for only a couple years.Or I want to run a saw that does like a dirt bike.
Totally different saw.
I love the sound of my 288 almost as much as I love the sound of my 2101. I just sit and drool listening to both of them idling next to each other!Almost but not quiet the the sound of a will built 2100cd
NOS??
