I put the 290 back together this evening. If I ever do that again, it will be too soon. Getting the piston into the jug is "delicate" to say the least. Otherwise, too many screws, and pieces.

Final verdict? It runs !!! Actually pretty well, I will get a bar on it tomorrow and go see what it can do. Then possibly mod the muff a bit.

A educational way to spend a evening.

You can make the block out of a small scrap of 3/4" oak. A giant tie wrap can also serve as a ring compressor.

I just use my fingernails, and there is a little chamfer on most cylinders that
help too.
