Locust was invented for firewood...and posts

I plit 1.5-2 cords this year of Black Locust by hand with a 4lb splitting wedge. I was splitting 24+inch rounds in a couple of whacks.

Not a hard wood to split by any means. Quality wood, worth the work even if it were more difficult to split. I swear the only trees I see when I'm driving are locust :)

The old farmer I worked for as a kid always said: Locust posts should be cut during the " dark of the moon in August" I remember he said if cut any other time they don't last nearly as long! That's my two cents!
