To appreciate modern logging, first start by looking at some of the books and videos about old logging. I've got a lot of respect for those that worked in the woods years ago.

On the modern side, I saw a book by Timberjack that chronicled the development of mechanical logging. The name and ISBN number are in my truck, and I'm close to bed, so I'll post it soon.

Also, you can look in some of the trade journals of our industry - mine are published in Canada but I am sure many others are published in the states. They are a great source of the most up-to-date techniques.

Baileys does have a good selection of books. One I got is "Fundamentals of General Tree Work", by G.F. Beranek. This guy has been there, and documented. Very good book.
