Longest bar on 076 Super

Does anyone know what these saws were designed to run / capable with without struggling?

i have a 41'' on mine, no problem,i think you can go up to 48- 60 in soft wood

On Acres site, the Stihl specs are 36". I have an 075 and a 36" would just look small.

Mine wears a 42" with an 8 pin sprocket and skip chain. Cut a lot of big red oak and ash years ago. Can definitely handle more with a 7 pin rim.

If you have a good 076, then it will pull a 60" bar buried in fir or white oakwith 404 full skip, no problem, and likely 72". If you have a dud 076, and yes, plenty are out there, it will struggle with a 36" bar.

I have heard some suck and some are good, any idea what the reasons are? Carb model related? Year? I have only ever used it wjth a 25” bar and it was ok?

Possibly the muffler getting clogged? I dunno.

Just go buy yourself a 60 inch .404 Cannon Superbar (for around AU$650 minus chain) and go and find a big standing tree to get yourself into trouble with.
